Gender Neutral
I’ve been interviewed for the Uitkrant in Amsterdam about gender neutral fashion. It’s online and on paper now so make sure you read it! Since it’s in Dutch I thought it would be a good idea to talk about it as well. I wrote a blog post before about gender inclusive restrooms. It’s a hot topic at the moment but has been my way of thinking for quite some years now.
Gender Neutral fashion for me isn’t a way to hide my gender. For me it’s just simply not giving a damn about the current gender pigeonhole way of thinking that many people have. I love, love, love fashion and want to play and variate as much as I can with it. If I see something I like and believe it will fit my body I’ll wear it. Not caring about which gender it’s intended for. So my style is gender neutral because I don’t let gender guide what I wear. There is a beautiful quote by Gore Vidal that’s suitable:
‘Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn’

The look: Glasses are sponsored by Cheapasszonnebrillen.nl, feather coat is from Recessie, faux leather pants is from Topshop, and shoes are from Solestruck, bracelet is from Zipper.
About the look: I like the contradictions in this look. It’s feminine and masculine at the same time. As you can see by the way I pose. I think the pants is more masculine and the coat and accessories are more feminine. I don’t care for which gender the clothes where originally intended for. I wear what ever I think is beautiful. I do like to play with boundaries and contradictions. I am feeling this look!
