Back to brown?

 In Fashion

A long, long time ago my favorite main styling color was brown. During this time I began thinking about how I wanted to style myself. I was around sixteen at the time and was showing the first signs of wanting to break free from my parents. I bought a big brown bracelet and some brown boots. My parents didn’t like it at all and criticized it. But I stood my ground and kept wearing it. I had just experienced a period in which I wore hoodies and track pants to fit in with the other kids. Which didn’t work of course. I was never able to fit in. Realizing that made me want to get my own style and leave my own unique footprint. So I formed an obsession with the color brown. I truly believed this color suited me best.

After all the drama that happened when I left home I sort of banned the color brown out of my life. The color grey was my new obsession. It represented a new beginning, a different life and leaving everything behind. Now, years later, I still get a funny feeling when I wear an outfit with a lot of brown accents. I don’t really know why. Maybe because I stopped wearing brown all together so many years ago. I banned the color brown out of my life. It sort of takes me back to that emotional time. Doesn’t it seem strange that clothes can make you experience emotions? Well I don’t think so. The clothes you wear can define who you are to the world and yourself, you can use them to express who you want to be or who you want to become. How you dress is a way of expressing yourself.

I’m happy that I’m comfortable enough to wear brown again. The heartache that defined the period of my life in which I was obsessed with the color brown is one of the things that make me who I am today. I’m ready to show the world that! It tells my story in a way. So my advice to you babies is to think about what you wear because:

Clothes tell a story….

I’m very curious about what you guys want tot tell the world with your outfits? Drop me a line below.

Look: brown vintage coat & leopard print shirt both from Marbles and Vintage, legging is from Dresslink, loafers are from Zara and vintage bag from Episode in Antwerp.

About the look: The brown and black from the leopard print is also reflected in the rest of the look. I think it’s very important to let colors come back in your look. It makes it look polished and stylish. There is more than one different tone of brown in the look. I think it works well because it makes it makes it look a little more playful. I love oversized shirts and big coats but to balance that out I combine it with a slimfit legging. Just to create a bit of contrast in my look and to show everyone that I’m still a skinny bitch.
