ANDRO~GENIUS at RADION ! ! !

 In Nightlife

I got together with Kim Marees in January. Kim is the cultural manager of club Radion Amsterdam. She wanted to work with me for Radion Weekender, which was last weekend. We both wanted to do something extraordinary to shake everybody up. Most people nowadays don’t think about the nightlife anymore. They don’t think about what feelings or thoughts the want to let loose during dancing, what parts of society they want to kick at, who they truly are when they can be themselves and who they want to seduce. It seems that the ruling conformity during the day has crept it’s way into the night. People all look the same and are only concerned with what DJ’s playing where. It’s the same recipe every weekend for most club nights.

I think the nightlife is much more than that and luckily so does Radion. I think the nightlife should be about letting things go, exploring your creativity, about being amazed and being dared t change your percepctive on the norms of society and so much more. Kim and I wanted to tell people that they should stop trying to stereotype everything and start thinking outside the box. We wanted to dare people to abandon their stereotypes and look at things as they are, not where they fit best.

Look at things as they are, not where they fit best…

How to do that? We first had to get people out of their comfort zone. So we stopped the music around 23:00 and then an opera singer began to sing acapella. Quite something to combine opera with techno. The performance started in the back of the upper room of the venue. So when the opera singer started to sing, the crowd was surprised and had to turn around. Next to the opera singer were four long creatures on heels with sey bodies. Their faces were covered so people would look at the performers and think about whether they where boys, girls or something in between. The goal was to make them let go of just that; and for them to start seeing it for what is was – beautiful.

I’m so happy, grateful and amazed about how well it went, how beautiful it looked and that I got the opportunity to share my opinion in such a creative way. I’m also very proud of, and grateful to my crew, big kisses for: opera singer Sunta Overvliet, performers Evert, Tim and Kenneth, production assistants Nick & Chazal, photographer Joy and camera crew Tosca and Lucien and last but not least: Kim Marees!

Styling & concept: Elio Heres

Look: shorts from Hema, fishnet panty’s from Flevo Dance Wear, fishnet gloves online here, jewerly from the euro shop at Kinkerstreet and big lips from the party shop Wittebaard.

About the look: The fishnet panty’s make the legs and arms look slim and sexy. The high waist pants make the legs look longer and keeps the little tummy’s in. It also gives the look a fierce touch. The jewellery makes it more high-class. The heels make everything just more extravagant and fierce. I really wanted to let the fishnet pattern come back throughout the look. So I styled it with fishnet panty’s on the leg, arm and over the head. It makes the look more fierce and polished.
